Welcome to VGAOK.com!

Some of you recently took part in a survey, to help finalize the direction of this product. Thank you very much for your time. The results of that survey are listed below:

1. The vgaOK signal generator/tester is currently designed to be a size that is approximately 1-1/2" x 1" x 5". Due to cost considerations, it may be necessary to change the size of the unit to approximately 2.75" x 1.25" x 5". How do you feel about that?

More than 75% of those who took the survey said that compact size was not important, and that any reasonable size would be fine. Many also commented that they would like a carrying case with belt clip; this is also being worked on.

2. Again, due to cost considerations, a plastic case is being evaluated. What kind of case would you prefer for the vgaOK tester?

This was close, but 53% of you said that an aluminum case was not as important as an affordable price. Unfortunately at this time, an aluminum case would almost double the cost of the unit.

3. Are you interested in Color choices for the case?

More than 80% said that color was not important to them..

4. Currently the auto power off delay time that is being considered is 30 seconds. How long would you like the auto power off delay time?

This was very close to a 3 way split between 30 seconds, 60 seconds, and 2 minutes. Several people sited different reasons for wanting different times. Two people said that they did not want a auto shut off feature, as they wanted significant time to align a projector (although this is not the intended use of this product). This will be evaluated based in the responses.

5. What is the highest price range you feel is reasonable for the vgaOK signal generator ($80-$125)?

The results fell evenly between the $80-$100 price range. Several commented on anything in this price range would be a value. At this time the final price is still being worked on due to the design change to a more affordable case, but should not be more than $100 at this time.

6-7. Are you considering this as a personal purchase, or a company purchase?

Almost 60% of you said that this would be a personal purchase, the rest being company purchases. The quantity data showed an even mixture of companies looking to by 2 units, 3-5 units, or 5+ units.

8. Any additional comments:

All in all most of the comments were constructive and helpful.

A few people thought that this was intended to be a replacement to a unit like the Extron VTG 300 (around $1000), with multiple output types, test patterns, and resolutions. There are many companies making great robust units like the Extron unit for more thorough testing and alignment of projectors and displays.

However there is not a good small unit for the quick testing done by general AV techs in the many situations in which a display and cabling are supplied, but the source is the clients computer that is not available during set up. This unit allows for a quick verification that you have Red, Blue, and Green Signals, as well as Vertical and Horizontal Sync.

Thanks again to all of you who took the time to fill out the survey!
